Commissioned to photograph the first ever Kabir Malwa Yatra in 2009. Through 9 days and 7 places in the heart of Madhya Pradesh we were witness to something few people have experienced - a pure honesty and a genuine love all through the words of Kabir and the songs sung by musicians from 6 different states, urban and rural, masters and disciples. The musicians were using the Kabir idioms to address the severe issues faced by the millions of dalits and adivasis in India. Our motley crew of travellers and musicians motored from village to village on our pink bus, jams and songs breaking out on every bump. After a point even the stage performances (as brilliant as they were) played an incidental second fiddle to the bus jams.
